16 Severely Underrated Video Games That Deserve A Second Chance
9. Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows
Activision's spectacular second Spider-Man movie tie-in - also known as 'the one that plays like GTA' - left one hell of a mark, and although hardly any subsequent Spidey-centric titles came anywhere close to recapturing that magic, Web of Shadows is the one that nailed it spot-on. With an alternating suit that let you manually flick between the standard red n' blue costume and a Venom-like black 'Symbiote' variant seen in the third movie (and comics) this bled over into your combat abilities, opening up some cool chaining possibilities where you'd fight guys with a standard moveset, only to flick over to the dark side suit and whip out some tentacles or ferocious beatdown animations for anyone tougher. Chuck in all the open-world traversal stuff cribbed from SM 2 and the replayability factor was through the roof, something that when coupled with a main story that was just an excuse to see Symbiote versions of iconic characters like Wolverine and Black Cat, ticked all the right fanboy boxes too.
