16 Video Games That Would Make Perfect Animated Movies
9. Earthbound
Earthbound - and by extension, the entire Mother series - is one of those games that could theoretically be brought to the silver screen by way of a live-action adaptation, but with its Peanuts-esque art style and trippier elements, it's hard not to think it might lose something more in the transition than, say, The Legend of Zelda might. In fact, speaking of Peanuts, it's hard not to look at the new movie and think that it would be the perfect way to animated the adventures of Ness and the gang. While little, if anything, is currently known about the story for the Peanuts movie, fans of the Mother series know all too well that while the art style might be reminiscent of Schulz's comic strip, Charlie Brown and the gang are probably not in for nearly as dark an adventure as what ultimately awaits in Earthbound. The first game is already localized, just unreleased, while fans (under the watchful eye of professional translator Clyde "Tomato" Mandelin) translated the third and are willing to offer their work (with an estimated value of $30,000) up to Nintendo at no charge. Even if Nintendo would rather handle it themselves, it's possible that if partnered with a prominent studio they might help foot some of the bill - perhaps for their own reference/benefit.
