17 Classic Video Games That Must Be Remade
8. The House Of The Dead Collection
Original Release Dates: March 26, 1998 (The House of the Dead), March 25, 1999 (The House of the Dead II), October 24, 2002, (The House of the Dead III), February 10, 2009 (The House of the Dead: Overkill), April 17, 2012 (The House of the Dead 4)
The House of the Dead is one of the most iconic and successful rail shooter franchises in gaming history, but with the original light gun games being mostly unplayable with the death of CRT TVs, they're absolutely overdue a retooling for HDTV set-ups.
The most obvious move would be to re-release the games for VR platforms, because how awesome would that be? Visually they've actually aged relatively well and, due to their short length, it probably wouldn't take too much time or effort to spruce them up for a shiny new collection.
How Likely Is It?: It's definitely a great idea and one that would lend itself extremely well to VR in particular, plus the aforementioned low overheads for Sega make it a much more distinct possibility than many other games on this list. Wait and see.
