Square Enix's criminally under-appreciated RPG is one of the PlayStation's very best games, smarter and more complex than the Final Fantasy franchise, but also decidedly less accessible and popular as a result.

Still, the deep combat and comprehensive weapon crafting system made the game an undeniable cult hit, and there's a passionate contingent of fans who have been begging for a remake for years and years.

How Likely Is It?: It's unlikely that Square Enix sees enough value in this brand to bother remaking it when they can basically print money from remaking Final Fantasy VII and other classic entries into that franchise.

The game's executive producer, Akitoshi Kawazu, has discussed the idea in years past, but it's just hard to believe the developer will ever actually pull the trigger.
