Dark Souls ain't the only blood-sucking franchise out to ruin your day and not look back. Instead, developers Acid Nerve are beating Microsoft to the top-down punch they had wound up with upcoming RPG dungeon-battler Below, with Titan Souls; an extremely hard pixel-perfect head-basher that's just as much fun to play and listen to as it is absolutely infuriating to get owned by.

Luckily, thanks to a minimalist character design and expansive overall world it definitely has buckets of charm on its side from the get-go; which helps immeasurably when you're tasked with felling screen-filling beasts with nothing but a bow and one singular, retrievable arrow.

It's through this focus that this particular 'Souls shines, and easily gets it away from the most obvious title-specific comparison in the process. Your attacks are limited to literally making every shot count, and whether you're sprinting to recover your arrow or standing firm and commanding it towards you - at no point do you feel remotely safe in doing so.

At the end of the day this resurgence of extremely hard titles is either going to make you grin manically and relish the challenge or run for the hills, you've most likely already made your decision, but TS's gorgeous score and overall look is more inviting and enjoyable than most.
