2. The Witcher 3 Getting Its Dark Souls On (Hearts Of Stone DLC)

If you've played any of the Souls games, you'll know the feeling of triggering a boss encounter after slowly investigating an area with your shield outstretched. Out of nowhere you'll hit a cutscene that shows a character or lumbering creature rearing up for the attack. Before you know it they've seen you, you've seen them and it's ON. Witcher's Hearts of Stone DLC has a very similar beat, and although the main game does have a couple of one-on-one battles that showcase the excellently balletic combat, HoS sees you tackle an entity known only as the Caretaker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqG72wL5Rg0 His 'face' is made up of a flap of skin, he comes at you by dragging his shovel across the ground, and he's easily the hardest boss even on standard difficulty to put down. You'll have to study his attacks, note when to wade in yourself and learn which animations are coming your way before they've started - all solid traits of a good Dark Souls fight. When you beat him though? What a feeling.
