18 Essential Xbox One Games Every Owner Must Play

3. Grand Theft Auto V

GTA V
Rockstar
There are some franchises that continued to reinforce the pillars of gaming itself, and GTA is one of the strongest. For the fifth instalment, Rockstar elected to redirect the tone of the series from its more series diversion seen in GTA IV.

Gone were protagonists who had moral complexities and in was a trio of pure a-holes who you can really indulge your dark side with. Anarchy is first on the menu, with the developer's perfected physics engine encouraging you to blow things apart in as many different ways as possible. Trevor, Michael and Franklin contribute three combined perspectives to the series' most overblown and enjoyable story yet; one that takes you to the skies, into underground secret bases and back to wreak havoc across the San Andreas streets.

GTA V might have played it safe by comparison to its more mature predecessor, but if you were looking for the next true sequel to where GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas left off, it's right here.
