2. Forza Horizon

Where did all the arcade racers go? Where's our next Burnout, Split/Second, or even our next Blur?

Well, whilst we wait for a game that'll surely arrive and blow your eyeballs in, Forza Horizon is the nearest thing to a supercar-focussed racer that puts an emphasis on speed and occasional off-road stunts.

Taking place during the fictional Horizon Festival (just think of Burnout's DJ Atomika on steroids, add pop music and you're pretty much there), racing the world's most stunning cars around sun-drenched seaside roads and mountainsides is the aim of the game.

Contrasting the main Forza games that put an emphasis on knowing how to tweak every last part of a given vehicle for maximum performance, Horizon throws out top-level speedsters like they're being fired from a confetti cannon. It's all in service of getting you out into the world and pitting you against the competition as fast as possible, and whilst it doesn't quite have the arcade charm of say, Burnout Takedown, remains a fantastic racer of its own accord.
