18 Reasons 2018's Biggest Video Games Might Suck

14. It's Too Reliant On "Emergent Gameplay" - Sea Of Thieves

Why It Might Suck: Rare has made it abundantly clear that their upcoming multiplayer pirate adventure game is heavily reliant on the player's experiences with others, but could that be at the cost of a more curated experience?

Basically, could Sea of Thieves be yet another multiplayer game that sounds awesome in theory, but because online play is rarely as slick or seamless as developers think it is, it'll end up banking way too heavily on players creating their own wondrous "emergent" experiences?

Why It Might Not: General reception to Sea of Thieves' recent betas have been pretty solid, albeit generally from fans already firmly sold on the game.

Still, that's somewhat encouraging, that Rare may have brought more to the table than merely just giving players an empty sandbox with which to populate their own social experiences.
