12. Halo 5: Guardians
MetaCritic Score: 88 What To Expect: A score pretty much on-par with Halo 4. While the removal of offline multiplayer options has proved massively controversial with the hardcore fanbase, critics are sure to heap praise on the apparently massively expanded single player campaign, which is said to be roughly double the length of the previous game's. Given how almost every single Halo campaign has been too damn short, this could be a major feather in Guardians' cap. And then there's the multiplayer, which hasn't yet disappointed fans, and you can be sure that 343 will be committed to avoiding the controversial and hugely embarrassing server issues that plagued last year's Master Chief Collection. Whatever refinements they make, it's sure to be as absurdly addictive as ever, and the added juice of the Xbox One will hopefully make fans and critics alike fall in love with the series once again. Though the potential absence of Master Chief in large portions of the plot (due to the player also controlling Spartan Locke) could definitely drag things down if it's done the wrong way, the series' track record to date suggests that this is rather unlikely. Release Date: October 27
