16. All Those "Follow" Objectives
Probably the most surprising thing about the game is that a title from the guys who brought us Max Payne is so lacking in electrifying gunplay.
Yes, the shootout set-pieces that made it into the game are a ton of fun, but they're essentially divided up by a series of cut-scenes, bizarre platforming sequences (which we'll get to later), and a number of "follow" objectives, where you're asked to do a walkabout with another character as they perform an info dump and maybe ask you to throw a switch or something.
It's painfully rote and really quite boring: why would Remedy want to place what are basically on-rails segments into their beautiful, often technically precise game? It's blatant padding and not much else: without these dull, drawn-out scenes, the actual, proper gameplay would barely clock in at 4 hours in length. Oh dear.
