19 WTF Moments From Quantum Break
15. Live-Action Episodes Are Streamed Rather Than On-Disc
One of the most baffling mistakes Remedy made is to have the four live-action episodes stream to the player over the Internet by default.
This not only results in a fairly unpleasant video quality given the clear effort that's been put into making these episodes, but also causes huge problems if either you or Remedy's servers encounter issues.
Even on super-fast, 100MB Internet, you might get "content buffering" prompts, which if common enough will cause the game to ask you to either download the entire 75GB HD videos for all four episodes, or just skip the live-action stuff altogether.
Given the context these videos provide, skipping is a big no-no, and who the hell wants to download 75GB before they can progress? Why can't we just download our individual video? And why weren't smaller files actually placed on the disc to account for such a blatantly preventable issue?
We found the "content buffering" issue so egregious that we gave up trying altogether and just watched one episode on YouTube from someone's Let's Play video. Is this really what we paid our money for? Disgraceful.
