20 Best Ever E3 Moments
10. Giant Enemy Crab (2006)
Sony's 2006 conference is widely accepted to be a disaster for many reasons, but more than anything, it served as a hugely dispiriting coming-out party for the PS3.
The relatively lacklustre titles on offer and brutal $599 price tag saw the birth of so-called "Arrogant Sony," but the conference did at least provide one unintentional moment of gut-busting levity.
During a gameplay demonstration for Genji: Days of the Blade, producer Bill Ritch said that the game's epic battles "actually took place in ancient Japan."
Around two minutes later, however, gameplay footage showed players battling, in Ritch's own words, a "giant enemy crab" - the pinnacle of realistic feudal warfare.
While few remember Genji in 2023, the meme of the Giant Enemy Crab remains as popular and amusing as ever.
