20 Best Game Boy & Game Boy Colour Games Of All Time

Metroid II: Return of Samus probably shouldn't have been on the Game Boy. The Game Boy works best with simple platformers and puzzle games, it doesn't work well with anything too complicated.
It's hard to explore in Metroid II as the Game Boy doesn't exactly have colours to distinguish different areas from one another. Luckily, the game doesn't focus as much on exploration as other Metroid games do, but it's still a problem.
In fact, if you want to play this game, you're better off with either the fan-made remake AM2R or the official remake, Metroid: Samus Returns, both of which take what works here and remove what doesn't.
Still, this is the best Game Boy games list, and Metroid II: Return Of Samus - despite all of its flaws - definitely qualifies for it.
This starts the main Metroid narrative which appears to be concluding in the upcoming Metroid Dread, it manages to have quite a sombre ending for something on a Game Boy, and most importantly the game is still a lot of fun to play.
It is classic 2D Metroid which is always a great time, hopefully Metroid Dread won't make me eat those words.
