The Bionic Commando series is known as a laughing stock due to one bad game.

The series never had a die-hard fan base and I can't imagine that the protagonist Nathan Spencer would be in Smash or anything even if it wasn’t revealed that he had a wife arm, but the series may at least have some respect nowadays if it wasn't for that awful reboot.

Luckily there are a few great games in the series to go back to as it's unlikely we'll get a new Bionic Commando anytime soon. One of the best being on the Game Boy, Bionic Commando: Elite Forces.

In the game you play as either an unnamed man or an unnamed woman - such iconic characters. You use a grapple and many guns to navigate the world of Karinia to defeat the evil Arturus and his army known as the Avars.

Yeah, the story isn't exactly high art but it gives you an excuse to Rambo your way through the jungle taking out enemies and to be honest sometimes that's all a story in a game needs to be.

It's a fun time that's sadly underappreciated and rarely spoken about.
