20 Best Game Boy & Game Boy Colour Games Of All Time
16. Final Fantasy Adventure
What Final Fantasy Adventure even is, is pretty confusing.
Final Fantasy Adventure is known as Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden in Japan which is the first in the Seiken Densetsu series, known as the Mana series to us. The Mana series eventually became its own thing that is completely separate from the Final Fantasy games.
Also if that isn’t confusing enough the game is also called Mystic Quest in Europe, not to be confused with Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest which is known in Europe as Final Fantasy USA: Mystic Quest.
You still with me?
Because it's technically a part of a separate series / a spin-off, Final Fantasy Adventure plays a lot differently than the other Final Fantasy games at the time, being more comparable to The Legend of Zelda than the series it's technically a part of.
The combat takes place in real-time and involves a man and a woman setting out to defend the Tree of Mana from the evil Dark Lord.
If you want something like Zelda but are allergic to The Legend of Zelda or something then Final Fantasy Adventure is a good choice. It's one of the best action-JRPGs on the system and is definitely worth a play.
