20 Best Moments From E3 2014

17. Sunset Overdrive Continues To Amaze, Due October

One of the most promising Xbox One exclusives is Sunset Overdrive, an absolutely bonkers-looking open-world shooter that hopes to return the idea of fun to the shooter genre. The trailer shown off at E3 begins by making fun of the abundance of militarised shooters on the market today: the cut-scene opens as generic as can be, before the protagonist bursts through a door with "Insomniac Games" written on it, before cracking a joke at the soldier, declaring, "Cover mechanic, right?" We then catch a cinematic glimpse at some ludicrous action and Yuri Lowenthal's entertaining voice acting, before a gameplay clip was shown off. Whether there will be any depth to it remains to be seen, but the footage so far suggests an insanely over-the-top and extremely fun adventure: that's just what gamers need right now. The 8-player online mode, Chaos Squad, was also briefly mentioned, and with a game like this, we suspect that more players just means more fun. The release date of October 28th was also finally announced, making the month even more ridiculously jam-packed with highly-anticipated games.
