3. Marvel's Spider-Man

It would be fair to say that Spider-man hasn't had a strong catalogue of games. Outside of the second movie tie-in games, a lot of follow up's and new takes on the character have had a mixed reception.

So all bets were off when it came to Insomniac's take on the webhead, but boy, did they smash it. Not only does it feature a strong story and supporting cast of characters, as well as some real depth to Peter Parker, it captured what most Spidey games can't capture: the fun of being Spider-man.

It's easy to lose time just exploring New York, with some of the best web-swinging mechanics we haven't seen before. The sense of scale, the rush of speed from thwipping from building to building is unparalleled.

It may have a combat system gleamed from the Batman games and the like, but that's no bad thing. Adding Spider-man's nimbleness and wall-crawling added a new layer of tactic and versatility to fights, making them as much a spectacle as they are a fight for survival.
