Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater is the best in the series. It’s mostly due to the story, as it takes place in the 1960s with the focus on Solid Snake's father, Naked Snake, and his tragic rise to the status of Big Boss.

With previous installments being set in an urban environment, Snake Eater takes place in a Jungle. But even though the setting changed, the core gameplay was still stealth and infiltration. Perhaps even more so than before, since there are so many places to hide in a rural environment and for the first time ever, Snake can be dressed in different types of camouflage to blend in with the environment.

Additionally, players were introduced to "close quarters combat", which involved creeping up to any enemy and starting him off with a chokehold. From then on, you could choose between slitting his throat, interrogating him or knocking him down unconscious.

These new features, along with epic boss battles (the sniper battle with "The End" being the standout) and perfected graphics made this title an indispensable game for any Playstation buff. It was truly an honor to be able to play this game at the pinnacle of PS2 popularity.
