When Pro Skater 1 came out in 1999, the game was critically acclaimed due to the finely tuned control and combo system found within its gameplay design. It was innovative in its level designs and control schemes, but most of all it was fun, which was surprising to many since it was a game about skateboarding. But then Pro Skater 2 came out a year later and blew the original out the water.

Gameplay is simple enough; the player is tasked with performing and combining grinds, flips, ollies and aerials in perfectly-timed executions to increase the player’s score. The more varied the tricks and moves, the more cash was awarded. This money was then used to purchase skateboards, better skills and advance to the next level. You also had to complete a set of tasks within each level and they ranged from finding the five letters of the word SKATE (as in the original) to finding hidden tapes somewhere in the level.

In addition to this, players could create their own character and customize their look, or you could even opt for playing as unlockable characters such as 80s Tony Hawk, Spiderman or Officer Dick!
