10. Halo Reach
When a developer decides to make a prequel to one of their most iconic games, fans would justifiably feel cautious, as it could damage the legacy of said iconic game. But Halo Reach blew away both fans and critics and is considered one of the best games in the Halo series.
The final Halo game to be developed by Bungie is set on the human colony Reach where players take control of Noble 6, the newest member of Noble Team, as they fight against the invading Covenant forces and assist Doctor Catherine Halsey in getting the artificial intelligence, Cortana, off the planet.
One of the hardest things to do with a prequel to any story is to make people care about the characters involved and their struggles, as people can go in already knowing whether or not certain characters will survive or if certain events will mean anything towards the overall story. But this was not the case for Halo Reach.
Members of Noble Team are immortalised as some of the greatest characters in the Halo series and Halo Reach is regarded as a must play for any shooter fan.
