What are nightmares really made of? Those hard-to-see skittering crawlies that you could swear are in the room with you, but can't see coming? Playdead's Limbo was an exploration of that mentality, telling the tale of a boy trapped in between worldly plains as he searched for his missing sister. You weren't really sure what you were in for when this started being shown pre-release, thanks to a brilliantly dark, shadow-puppet-style art aesthetic that plays on dealing with creature's silhouettes, your mind filling in the gory details within. One such affecting moment is right at the beginning, as you're still intrepidly venturing forward, only for a gigantic spider's leg to stretch out from the side of screen, providing one hell of a jump-scare even though there's no audible cue alongside. You eventually turn the tables on it through a variety of means, slowly pulling its hairy legs from its body one by one, a truly sickening set-piece if you're a bit jittery already when it comes to anything bug-related. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J34Q6wWzIiE
