20 Best Video Game Moments Of The Decade (So Far)

3. Entering Mexico - Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead might just be the Greatest Game of All Time; so perfect are its characters, commentaries on society, gameplay and overall sense of progression and narrative that it provides amazing moments throughout that'll be dissected for years to come. The ending in particular is a very strong candidate for an impactful sequence, but you just have to give it to when you land on Mexican shores for the first time instead. Having just been involved in an extremely brutal and drawn-out gun fight you'll be physically and mentally drained, much like hero John Marston is having survived the ordeal. It's then when you'll hop on your horse and take off into the sunset, knowing there's quite a bit of riding to be done before you can rest. As you emerge just over the crest of the hill and really breathe in the new landscape you'll be exploring, Jose Gonzales' acoustic rendition of his track Far Away slowly creeps in, perfectly accentuating the moment itself and just symbolising just how far you've literally come since those furtive few scenes at the beginning where you were harmlessly herding cattle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUXGW6sWYDY A memorable moment for players, Rockstar and gaming in general, making for an experience that could only be done with so much impact in a video game.
