20 Best Video Games Of 2015

17. Mortal Kombat X

Never ones to disappoint, NetherRealm decided their tenth instalment of the legendary MK franchise shouldn't be one that focusses too much on innovation - instead building on where 2011's reboot left off by bringing across the Injustice series' environmental interactions and overblown animations to flesh out each character instead. All the MK legends are present and accounted for, alongside more increasingly barbaric fatalities (although there's nothing as controversial as Kung Lao's body-ripper from MK9) and the devs have split each Kombatant into three varieties to force you into learning specific move lists. The decision to polish MK rather than build on it keeps this instalment from rising higher up the list, but as a solid entry in a premiere fighting franchise, it's the best of the year by a mile.
