20 Biggest Games Of 2014: What Do We Already Know?

5. Deep Down (TBA 2014)

Deep Down was first shown off at the PlayStation Meeting last year, and certainly wowed us all with its magnificent visuals, suggesting it might be one of the year's big PS4 exclusives. Then the announcement came that the game was, in fact, being developed as a F2P title, a confusing source of pleasure, that we wouldn't have to pay for it, and anguish, considering these games are rarely anything to shout home about, or put up hugely obtrusive pay-walls which stifle gameplay. The game's profile has been pretty low recently, and the last impressions we heard of it were from the Tokyo Game Show last September, where the consensus was that while the game boasted immaculate visuals, it was pretty much just a standard dungeon crawler. You pick one of two characters, are dropped into a randomly generated dungeon, and then apparently have to perform relatively limited combat maneuvers. Capcom have already confirmed that micro-transactions will play a big part in the game's longevity, which sounds like business speak for "you won't get much out of it for free". Will It Deliver? Best to keep expectations low for this one despite the initial promise. On the plus side, you can give it a try for free.
