20 Biggest Games Of 2014: What Do We Already Know?
4. Driveclub (TBA 2014)
Also announced during the PlayStation Meeting was Driveclub, touted as being the next big thing in racing games, exclusively for PlayStation 4 no less. The game was originally planned to be a PS4 launch title, though was delayed just a month before release into "early 2014", which we have pretty much slid right out of now. Last month, it was announced that the game would again not meet its aimed window as the developers had "gone back to the drawing board", which is a pretty grim phrase if we've ever heard it. Early impressions of the game foregrounded its strong visuals above all else, while Evolution Studios were quick to talk-up the social aspects, in terms of managing Driveclubs with other players online. It's telling, however, that the press haven't really been allowed near the game in several months, suggesting that the severe overhaul has been underway for a while, and it's really quite likely that the game could miss a 2014 release altogether. Will It Deliver? The "drawing board" comment makes this a total wild card: the game could just be sinking under the pressure, or perhaps Evolution will cobble something together that's better than what we saw previously. Either way, best to keep expectations low, hope for a competent-if-ordinary racer and perhaps be pleasantly surprised.
