20 Biggest Games Of 2014: What Do We Already Know?
3. Tom Clancy's The Division (TBA 2014)
Easily one of the most impressive games shown off at last year's E3 was Tom Clancy's The Division, truly a title to make gamers everywhere say, "Now THIS is next-gen". The game is a massively multiplayer online tactical shooter, in which the player is a member of the Strategic Homeland Division, a task force to try and maintain order in the wake of a viral outbreak that obliterates the US in under a week. The game will have players taking on both AI and other players, and Ubisoft have promised that the game will incorporate light RPG elements with the hardcore action we expect from Tom Clancy games. At the same time, the game is made purposefully challenging much like the earlier Rainbow Six games, in order to ensure that Rambo-like behaviour is not rewarded, while teamwork and communication are very much the order of the day. Still, what's easily the most startling aspect of the game is the graphics: the E3 demo clip of a police car being riddled with bullets is easily one of the most awe-inspiring scenes ever created in a video game, stunning in its realism down to the finest details. Will It Deliver? In this day and age, it's easy to be concerned about graphical downgrades (especially after Ubisoft's Watch Dogs fiasco), but even if the game looks worse than what we saw last year, the gameplay sounds fantastic, and that's what's important. Expect the most successful Clancy game in ages.
