After years of speculation, Assassin's Creed: The Movie is finally happening. It's being directed by Justin Kurzel, and it'll star Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons.

The first trailer looked, interesting, to say the least. It appears to be deviating from the source material somewhat, which might not be such a bad idea, seeing as how the plot of the games is a complete mess at this point. The visuals looked nice; in fact, they looked like something right out of the games. Michael Fassbender makes a convincing lead, and the director has a respectable filmography behind him. So, all in all, we should be cautiously optimistic, right?

Well, there was something about the trailer that left me a little concerned, and that was the inclusion of Kanye West's 'I am a God', which just doesn't seem like it would mesh well with the aesthetics of Assassin's Creed. Hopefully, it won't be featured in the final movie, because if it's anything more than just a product of the trailer, it's going to be pretty difficult to take the whole thing seriously. The film needs an orchestral score, something that really captures the film's historical setting, and scope. Personal music preferences aside, Kanye would just feel incongruous.
