20 Classic Nintendo Games That Desperately Deserve Sequels
17. Mach Rider
Mach Rider is another title from the early days of the NES. It's the year 2112: Earth has been invaded, and you're taking to the road on your machine gun-toting motorcycle, looking for survivors* and blowing away the Quadrunners that get in your way. Who wouldn't want to fight off aliens from behind the wheel of a wicked motorcycle? It's a simple premise with room for expansion; despite the 3D effect that was impressive at the time, it was still limited by the tech of the day. But with systems such as the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, the sky's the limit. Plus, in addition to a really catchy main tune, it's also one of Nintendo's oldest games to feature a female protagonist, predating Metroid by a year. * They say that, but you never really find any. Unless the woman who appears in Mach Rider's place is supposed to be the sole survivor. It's never really made clear - all the more reason for a new game!
