20 Comic Book Video Games You Must Play Before You Die

13. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

Open-world LEGO is the best LEGO, and although the Marvel Super Heroes compilation of characters would become a resoundingly fun one a year later, Traveller's Tales first got in on the multi-branding action with DC in 2012. That led to taking what was formerly a Bat-centric experience branching out across a huge roster of the company's extended universe. The third instalment would go even further in this direction, but it's this middle-child that introduced the idea of an open-world in the first place, had a more focussed story and showed off everyone from Aquaman to Killer Croc getting the full-on uber-cutesy LEGO treatment. At this stage if you've played any of these games you've played 'em all, but simply having the entirety of Gotham open (from ACE Chemicals to Arkham Asylum), alongside a cross-character story that takes you across a huge range of locales, elevates this above the majority of TT's output, bolstering everything with some of the greatest characters ever created.
