20 Essential Gaming Sequels That Must Be Announced In 2014

5. Killzone 5

The first Killzone back in 2004 was a modest success, but didn't end up getting a sequel until 2009's much-hyped Killzone 2 on the PS3. Due to the popularity of the follow-up, a third game followed in 2011, and then the next-gen PS4 sequel, Shadow Fall, just last November. Of all the "next gen" games on the PS4, Shadow Fall is the one that best demonstrates the PS4's power to date: it featured a gorgeous single player campaign and a freakishly addictive multiplayer suite that easily took Call of Duty: Ghosts to school. Shadow Fall was, despite a few mixed reviews, a huge success, and as such, despite no formal announcement, Guerrilla Games will likely be getting to work on a follow-up soon if they haven't already. Given the accelerated cycle of the last few games, they could easily get another game out by late 2015 or early 2016, and so to hear something by the end of the year would not in any way be out of the ordinary. As long as Guerrilla build on their brilliant multiplayer mode and maybe give the campaign a little more of a dramatic thrust, this could be a classic in the making.
