20 Essential Gaming Sequels That Must Be Announced In 2014

4. The Elder Scrolls VI

The Elder Scrolls series began back in 1994 with Arena, but it wasn't until 2002's Morrowind that it really began to take off as a mammoth game for the ages. Since then, the two core follow-ups, Oblivion and Skyrim, have released to tremendous critical acclaim and sales, renowned for their ridiculously dense, layered mythology and nuanced open-world gameplay. Between this and the aforementioned Fallout series, Bethesda certainly has a lot on their plate, though that won't stop fans hoping that a sixth Elder Scrolls game might already be in development. The development cycle of these games tends to take around 4-5 years, and considering that The Elder Scrolls Online is due for release next month (albeit by a different developer), Bethesda might not feel the need to press on with unveiling their next Elder Scrolls game. That said, it's somehow already been 2 and a half years since Skyrim blessed our shores, so we could potentially be half-way to it being released, which also means that development may already be in progress. Announcing the game late in 2014 for a spring 2016 release date would make sense, and get the fanboys going nuts.
