20 Essential Gaming Sequels That Must Be Announced In 2014
3. Mass Effect 4
One game that we definitely know to be in development is Mass Effect, though aside from a few sly hints, we know absolutely nothing about it, except that Commander Shepard's story is done, and that BioWare is not very keen on referring to it as ME4, because this implies that it will continue from the events of the last game. Does this mean a prequel, or merely a tangential follow-up which takes place within the same universe but is very much its own beast? We'll have to wait and see. Mass Effect 3 launched just over two years ago, and fans have been thirsty for another brilliant sci-fi odyssey ever since. With the next-gen leap and the requirement to flesh out an entirely new base of characters, it's reasonable to expect the next game to take a little longer, though an announcement by year's end (which will be almost 3 years since the last game) doesn't seem unreasonable, especially considering reports that the game is heavily into the production stages.
