20 Most Frustrating Video Game Moments Ever

17. Running Out Of Ink Ribbons - Resident Evil

Resident EvilCapcomIn the first three core Resident Evil games, ink ribbons were one of the most important commodities, as they were used to save your progress when you came across a typewriter in a save room. Considering that every subsequent game has done away with this rather archaic concept, instead operating on checkpoints and chapters, going back and playing the older entries in the series definitely proves a challenge. There's simply nothing more annoying in these games than finally getting past that pesky boss but running out of ink ribbons, and having to traipse around looking for one in order to save your progress. But damn, then a hunter shows up and rips your head off, rendering the last hour of play completely null and void. Though the games are in fairness pretty generous with ink ribbons, if you're a cautious Resident Evil player, they can quickly become used up, and having to repeat the last hour of play just feels like busy work, an unoriginal way to extend the game's life rather than throwing in a few more areas and boss fights.
