16. Tailing Missions - Assassin's Creed
Ubisoft MontrealEven those who unabashedly love the Assassin's Creed franchise will admit that Ubisoft could lay off a little with the ridiculous number of tailing missions. The latest game, Black Flag, especially suffers from a silly amount of missions which require the player to follow a character, usually undetected, before assassinating them at the end of it. While this can be occasionally exciting, pigeonholing so many of them into the game makes them feel more like a rote task than the employ of a bada** assassin, and don't even get us started on those missions which require you to tail players within a certain radius so you can eavesdrop on what they're saying. Jeez! Though complaining about stealth in an Assassin's Creed game is beyond stupid, these missions make a chore out of what should be fun and free-formed: we're forced into one linear, slow-moving approach, and these levels interrupt the momentum of the other, more unique missions. Hopefully Ubisoft will listen to the vocal complaints and tone things down a little for the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Unity.
