Developer: NEC Corporation Release: 1989 Notable Games: Splatterhouse, Legendary Axe, Bonk's Adventure Another victim to poor timing, the TurboGrafx-16 was in direct competition with the Nintendo Entertainment System. The TurboGrafx-16 had disappointing sales worldwide, which is a shame because the system had by far the best arcade ports at the time. An excellent catalogue of games included the hugely entertaining horror classic Splatterhouse and eye-popping top-down shooter Blazing Lasers, all holding up well even compared to the SNES' massive library. Unfortunately, the TurboGrafx-16 didn't appeal to those looking for a multiplayer experience, with additional controllers requiring a special attachment. This, combined with the tough competition, makes the TurboGrafx-16 one of the most undeserved failures in the industry's history.
