Developer: Matt Thorson Platform: Ouya, PC, Linux, Mac OS X, Playstation 4 Release: 2013 Along with Nidhogg, Towerfall: Ascension has helped to usher in a new age of local multiplayer, something that the industry has been in desperate need of. Towerfall is at its best with the maximum of four players, where it's fiercely competitive and ludicrously fun. Each player is given a bow and limited arrows, and being hit by an arrow (including your own) will result in instant death. Solid platforming skills are just as important as decent accuracy, and the semi-randomised structure of each level helps to keep each round interesting. Power-ups from chests and a huge amount of game mode variants make Towerfall Ascension hilariously good fun, making it feel like a classic release from a time before online multiplayer.
