Developer: Blizzard Entertainment Platform: PC, Mac OS X Release: 2010 Including StarCraft II in this list over the classic original, might be a point of contention, but Blizzard's fantastic sequel has proven itself to be a worthy successor over the years. Featuring three totally distinct races, StarCraft's classic gameplay shines in a new engine that makes the sci-fi battles look better than ever. The online multiplayer is handled well, with each player allocated a rank that goes from Bronze at the low levels all the way up to Grandmaster for the world's best. It's possible to rank up in individual leagues, in order to be promoted or relegated to a different skill level where you'll be matched up against opponents that offer a fair amount of challenge. Add in the StarCraft II Arcade, which is filled with thousands of player-made custom games, and StarCraft II can easily become the only multiplayer game RTS fans will ever need.
