20 Greatest PC Games Of All Time

11. Age Of Empires 2: Age Of Kings

A great history lesson as well as being a solid real-time strategy title, Age of Empires 2 is a legendary PC release that led to countless hours of fiercely competitive LAN partying. A culmination of the 90's style of RTS, Age of Empires II continues to set a high standard for the genre to this day. The single-player campaign took place through various notable historic events, such as Genghis Khan's invasion of Eurasia and the crusade of Barbarossa. They offered a lot of variety, and made learning the stories behind the key figures in our history books fun. However, it was in the multiplayer that Age of Empires II shone brightest. With 13 civilizations to choose from in the base game alone, there was a wealth of units and buildings to expand with. The rock-paper-scissors style of combat, as well as some hilariously creative units like the Monk, made Age of Empires 2 an unforgettable multiplayer classic.
