Still one of the most played games on Steam, Skyrim has proven its longevity almost three years after its release. Its memorable world and classic Elder Scrolls freedom managed to resonate not only with RPG fanatics, but with the gaming community at large. If we were talking about console releases, then there's a good chance that Morrowind would be taking Skyrim's place on this list, with its arguable more interesting environments and totally non-linear questing. However, thanks to Skyrim's excellent modding community, it's possible to propel the game into something that far surpasses the vanilla release. From survival mods to huge, player-made expansions, a fully modded Skyrim can offer an incredibly RPG that never ends, and one of the finest experiences available to the more adventurous PC gamers.
