Developer: The Creative Assembly Released: 2011 The Total War games, as the name suggests, exist to offer the total war experience. As well as the battles themselves, you'll also be expected to deal with the politics of war and the grand strategy of the entire campaign. Total War: Shogun 2 is widely considered to be one of the best of the bunch, thanks to the incredible graphics, huge scale and streamlining that still allows for strategic choice. The 16th-century Japan setting is also novel, and one that hasn't been explored too much in Western gaming. A must-have for history buffs and strategy fans alike, if you're not careful then Total War: Shogun 2 can easily suck months out of your life.
