20 Greatest Strategy Games Of All Time

14. Homeworld

Developer: Relic Entertainment Released: 1999 There aren't many games grander than Homeworld. Grand in scope, grand in ambition and grand in its space-faring narrative, Homeworld was a giant leap for the RTS genre. The first space real-time-strategy game that allows players to make use of three-dimensions, Homeworld effectively demonstrated that RTS titles didn't need to take place on a 2D plane. As well as pioneering a new style of RTS gameplay, Homeworld is fondly remembered for its epic story. The game follows a human colony attempting to reach their planet of origin, after their home world is destroyed by hostile aliens. An incredibly good-looking game for its time, Homeworld is still a totally absorbing strategy experience.
