First thought to be your new best friend, Nolan North's turn as David is a fantastic one, perfectly walking the tightrope of trust at every turn as one minute he appears to bring you food, only for it then to be revealed he's one of a group of cannibals with far more sinister motivations. One of the biggest takeaways from TLoU is that idea of no one being the hero, no one character being without their grey areas and especially no one being anything close to righteous. You're following Joel and Ellie's story as the two of them grow to rely on each other, but chances are if Naughty Dog should ever do another tale in this world (and they really should not) everyone's struggle is just as important as the last. Come the final showdown with David you'll play as Ellie, the two of you engaging in a very intense game of cat and mouse inside a diner of sorts until after the former gets the drop on her, Ellie grabs a nearby machete to prevent a horrific rape attempt. It's a very dark scene but also marks the first time Joel and Ellie embrace following its events, making for not only one of the best showdowns in recent memory but a character who aside from his final moments was essentially acting just as much out of self-preservation as yourself.
