The franchise has proven to be hugely popular among both casual and hardcore gamers, thanks to the titles' addictive gameplay and tongue-in-cheek humour. Garden Warfare, released earlier this year, is a big departure from the series' origins. Pitting two teams against each other in a blend of third-person shooting and tower defense, the game requires strong teamwork, tactical planning and just enough meta progression to keep things nicely addictive. It might not feature the typical setting of gritty, modern military skirmishes, but Garden Warfare rivals many of the big AAA franchises in terms of online multiplayer fun.
