20 More Things Only Dark Souls Fans Will Understand

6. Boosting Your Stats To Finally Use A Weapon, Then Discovering You Don’t Like It

Dark Souls likes to tease you with some of its weaponry. 'Here's a massive greatsword with cool properties' it'll say, while guffawing behind your back.

'Cool!' you exclaim, and jump in your inventory to use it. Then it's got something ridiculous like having stats like 40+ strength or 80,000 dexterity in order to use it, and you find yourself ignoring this, equipping it anyway, and finding it's impossible to use.

Thus begins a quest within a quest as you strategically use your hard-earned souls to not only just level up, but also to finally be able to equip that really cool weapon you got loads earlier.

Finally, you reach the right level on your stats. You proudly equip your new weapon, setting aside your old, trusty weapon at last, and then try the new one out in the field. Before you know it, you're probably dead, as the weapon works entirely differently from your old one that you're now used to.

You'll try it maybe a couple of more times with the same result, and finally - and begrudgingly - accept that this weapon simply isn't for you, and swap back to your old one anyway.
