16. Finally Caving And Summoning Help To Beat A Boss

Look, we get it. Everyone knows summoning is a thing in Dark Souls. It's a way to bring in the cavalry to help you out when things just get far too much.

It also feels just a little bit like cheating though, doesn't it? Like it takes away from your victory.

That said, everyone who's played Dark Souls, at some point, has hit a huge brick wall, usually in the form of some hideous beast. No matter what you throw at it, no matter how hard you try, it repeatedly sends you packing and back to the bonfire.

It's time to eat your pride and summon some help. Whether you're enlisting the help of handy NPCs or instead another actual player using the online system, having a second - or even third - person to help you take down a boss is a joy.

You'll probably spend the entire fight cowering in a corner with your shield up while the uber-powerful person you've summoned proceeds to beat the boss you've struggle with for ages in about 30 seconds.

It's also absolutely terrible when you summon someone and either they're useless or do something wrong, and end up dying halfway through the fight, leaving you all on your lonesome to probably die again.
