We were salivating over Silksong in 2020, rubbing our hands in anticipation in 2021, and in the dying embers of 2022 we find ourselves chomping at the bit for the long, long-awaited follow up to Hollow Knight.

To be honest, Silksong's perennial appearance on Most Anticipated lists has become something of a running gag. Much like Duke Nukem Forever's ludicrously stretched out release schedule, or PC Gamer promising to review Resident Evil 4 "next month" for over a year, Silksong's nebulous release date has entered the realms of comedy.

However, unlike those two examples - where the joke was very much on the poor suckers who paid for either game (RE4's PC port was bad) - we're confident Team Cherry can land the punchline. Hollow Knight was a Metroidvania on par with the best of the genre's namesakes, and we have every confidence Silksong will be a worthy successor.
