20 Most Embarrassing Video Game Moments Since 2000
2. Konami V. Kojima: The Never Ending Saga
Over the past couple years, Konami has become one of the most hated companies in gaming and it's all thanks to one man - Hideo Kojima.
Back in 2015, Konami and Kojima were set to release the last chapter in the Metal Gear series. We all know that the game had an unfinished feel to it, and it turns out that's more than likely because of a rift between Kojima and Konami. Konami was trying to rid themselves of Kojima and when this became public, it got ugly. But before it was public, it was all just speculation.
Konami first started silently removing "A Hideo Kojima Game" from all box art on upcoming Metal Gear games like Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. Even Kojima would silently hint that his time was up at Konami with a subtle Easter egg in Ground Zeroes. It doesn't end there though, that's just the beginning.
Konami would eventually cancel the upcoming Silent Hill reboot that would feature Kojima at the head of the project alongside Guillermo del Toro. They would even go so far as completely removing P.T., the playable trailer for Silent Hills, from the PlayStation Store, but it keeps going.
At the 2015 Game Awards, MGSV won two, but Kojima was not there to accept. It turns out he was barred from attending by Konami. Host and friend of Kojima, Geoff Keighley wasn't having any of that as he broke from the script and publicly called the company out.
Even recently it has come out that Konami is still trying to sully the name of Kojima and his new studio, Kojima Productions. They have allegedly had a hand in Kojima's difficulties acquiring health insurance for some of this employees, as well as telling other companies to be wary about hiring ex-Konami employees, who in turn would have worked with Kojima.
There seems to be new drama popping up all the time between the two, so who knows what the next chapter will be in this never ending drama fest.
