Note: First and foremost, this entry is not saying that the unfortunate death of a woman is embarrassing. There should never have been a moment when this was allowed to happen. Had those in charge used basic common sense, an unnecessary death could have been avoided.

We cool? Good.

Back in 2007, when Wii's were taking the world by absolute storm, everyone had to get their hands on one no matter what. This is when KDND, a radio station in Sacramento, California, came up with the idea for a competition where the person who could drink the most water without urinating would win a Wii. At points during the competition, the on-air host mentioned the hazards of drinking an excess of water, and callers even called in to advise against it.

Jennifer Strange, a 28-year-old mother would end up dying of water intoxication because of this competition.

The radio station was also sued by the victim's family for wrongful death, and in 2009 was awarded $16 million by the court.

Following the death, ten employees were fired, and in 2016 the FCC put the renewal of the station's license under review. Just this year the station was shut down.

The death of Jennifer Strange is not embarrassing, but unfortunate. What is embarrassing is the negligence and lack of sense from the DJs and radio station that allowed such a travesty to occur.
