14. The Kinect Never Becomes What Microsoft Envisioned
Microsoft tried so hard to push the Kinect as the next big thing in motion controls, but it never worked no matter how hard they tried to shove it down consumers' throats.
The Kinect itself was never really that awful, though there were certainly times when its performance could be considered subpar. What really did it in was the lack of games that made it a worthwhile investment. There hasn't been a single Kinect-only title released that took the world by storm. If anything there's Just Dance, but that's not something everyone is going to be lining up for, and certainly isn't going to sell the Kinect single-handedly.
Those times the Kinect was subpar mostly came from its existence alongside the Xbox One. At first, it was a mandatory add-on that came packaged with the Xbox One. That would eventually change as most fans didn't want it. Today, if you even want a Kinect hooked up to your Xbox One S you need an adapter, because Microsoft didn't care to throw the port on the new consoles, showing just how little it means to them and fans nowadays.
